Exmouth Town were beaten in their third game of the 23/24 pre-season, as they lost 1-0 by Welsh side Llantwit Major at the Circle of Care Community Stadium.

Following strong performances against Truro and Buckland, Town struggled to get going throughout the afternoon, and a second half goal was enough to give the visitors the win.

Neither side were able to establish themselves on the game for the opening half an hour, as some of the pre-season rustiness showed itself as misplaced passes dominated the game.

It was Town who got the first opportunity, as an Aarron Denny corner found the head of Mike Landricombe, whose header was cleared off the line by a Llantwit defender.

The hosts should have made it 1-0 as a superb Mark Lever header played through Ben Steer, and his drilled the ball across the face of the goal but a sliding Jordan Harris couldn’t make contact with the ball.

Andrew Sowden was called into action just before the half-time whistle, as the Llantwit left winger was sent through on goal, but the former Exeter City goalkeeper was there to meet him with a great save.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring, just three minutes after half time, as they once again got in behind the Town defence and this time they managed to slot the ball past Sowden.

Exmouth managed to be the better side for the rest of the game, but aside from a Denny long-shot, which forced a nice save from the visiting goalkeeper, they were unable to create anything clear cut to bring themselves back in the game.

The overwhelming positive was the return of striker Levi Landricombe, who managed to get 15 minutes and look to build his fitness for the 23/24 season.
