MATCH PREVIEW: FALMOUTH TOWN (A)
Exmouth Town’s 23/24 season begins this Saturday at Bickland Park, as they take on Falmouth Town in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round.
Town will be looking to improve on last season’s cup exploits, where they were knocked out at the first time of asking by Buckland Athletic, and following a strong pre-season, there will be plenty of confidence in the Exmouth camp.
Falmouth are currently in the Western League Premier Division, having finished in a very respectable seventh place last season, and they have yet to concede a goal this season.
Backed by the boisterous F-Troop, The Ambers have started strongly, drawing with Brixham and earning a hard-fought win against St Blazey on Tuesday.
Speaking shortly after the Exeter game, Exmouth Town manager Kevin Hill said:
“It’s the beginning of the season now, the season starts for us with the FA Cup, but it’s also holiday season, where they’ve broken up from school, and it’s the only time they can go away with their kids and family, so I think the first four/five games will be disjointed with people away, coming back, until everyone comes back which will hopefully be in the middle of September.
It’s going to be tough down there, they are going to have a big crowd, they are going to be up for it trying to get a scalp, but we’ve got to do what we do and if we work hard, keep our shape and be strong, it will be a good game.
I know what they are like, they started the season, they’ve drawn and they won last night 1-0 against St Blazey, so they will be buzzing from that. I know it’s like in a cup game, they’ve got nothing to lose, they will go out and enjoy it with the crowd.”
The game takes place at Bickland Park, which is addressed at:
Bickland Water Rd
The coach for tomorrow’s game leaves from the Circle of Care Community Stadium at 9:45am.
There will be live Twitter coverage, and highlights from the game will be available at some point next week.
