Kevin Hill was delighted with his side’s performance as they beat Bishops Cleeve 4-1 at Kayte Lane, to earn their first Southern League Division One South win of the season.

Goals from Mike Landricombe, Ben Steer, Ethan Slater and Ace High helped Town on their way to a deserved victory.

“I’m very delighted, I thought the boys were excellent, what a reaction from Wednesday night, there were some words in the dressing room and it’s just like what I said, that 4-0 drubbing taught us more than playing really well and losing by the odd goal.

“Today was all about taking our chances, we could have had more, but I thought we were excellent in defending from the front.

“It’s nice for Mike to get a goal, great header, and (Aarron) Denny gambling, anticipating and gets there before the ‘keeper, he brings him down and it’s a penalty, it’s nice to see Ace (High) score from the six yard box, cutting the ball across and he’s steaming in, I prefer those goals.

“That to me was more Exmouth, when we were coming up the leagues, teams used to hate playing against us, we had willing runners all over the park, we had willing people to put their heads in, if they had beaten us but we worked that hard, I would have taken it as a positive, we worked our socks off and the quality came through.”
