MATCH REPORT: EVESHAM UNITED 2-4 EXMOUTH TOWN

Exmouth Town ended their winless run, as they beat Evesham 4-2 at the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium.

Goals from Aarron Denny, Ethan Slater and Louis Morison gave Town a much needed and deserved win.

Exmouth started strong, which is something that has been a common theme in recent games, with Denny working hard to touch the ball down, before flicking a ball over the top, which almost found Tom Bath.

With eight minutes gone, Denny would fire Town in front, after getting on the end of a loose ball, rounding the goalkeeper, and slotting into an empty net.

Evesham started to grow into the game, as Chris Wright was forced into a save from Archie Clark’s shot.

Town recovered well, and after a corner, Mike Landricombe’s header caused chaos in the hosts box, allowing Slater to poke home from a few yards out.

The visitors continued to press the Robins, taking advantage of some poor passes, with Denny finding Nelson Iseguan, who opted to shoot, but it was straight at Taylor.

Evesham would get one back, as Leighton Tuodolo would burst past the Town defence, and cut it back to Clark, who smashed it into the top of the net.

Clark would have a great chance to send his side in level, as he got in behind the Town defence, but the attacker fired wide.

Perhaps previous encounters would lead to people feeling slightly nervy heading into the second half, but any caution would be quickly abandoned, as Denny received the ball on the edge of the box, turned his man and found the bottom corner to extend Town’s lead.

Evesham battled back, as Amer Awadh was able to create a chance for himself, but it was straight at Wright.

The hosts would continue to fight, as a free-kick was punched away by the Town keeper, which led to a scramble, that ended thanks to an Evesham man shooting wide.

After an incident off the ball, Tuodolo would be sent off, but it wouldn’t stop the Robins getting one back, as a free-kick routine would see Ethan Moran score from the edge of the box.

Town would respond straight away, as some superb work from Iseguan gave Town a free-kick, and from that Morison’s shot would sneak into the bottom corner.

Exmouth would comfortably hold on, and earn a brilliant win, and they will hope to take that into Boxing Day, as they host Mousehole at the Circle of Care Community Stadium.
