Exmouth Town kick off this week’s Tavistock double header, as they welcome the Lambs to the Complete Infrastructure Stadium in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl.

Town will aim to recover from a poor weekend performance against Horndean, by progressing in another cup competition.

THE OPPOSITION

A team that Town know well, Tavistock have progressed the leagues at a similar pace to Exmouth, and both teams will remember the historic battle for the Western League in the 21/22 season, where the Lambs came out on top.

Currently sat in the league in 12th place, Stuart Henderson’s side have enjoyed success in the FA Trophy, beating North Leigh and Larkhall to get to the third qualifying round of the competition.

PRE-MATCH CHAT

Speaking after the Horndean game, joint manager Kevin Hill said: “We are a Jekyll and Hyde team so I can’t tell you what to expect.

We can shout and talk, but it depends on what frame of mind they are in, if they think it’s just the Devon Bowl, which some of them might do, then we’ll struggle.

If they see it as a chance to beat Tavistock, to win a cup, then they’ve got to show us that they want to be in the team.

It’s a great place to be around, you’ve got to fight for your place, so players will come back in and play, some of them (players that played Saturday) will play in it, but next week that side will change, because we can’t play like that.”
