MATCH REPORT: EXMOUTH TOWN 3-0 FALMOUTH TOWN
Exmouth Town got back to winning ways in the Southern League Division One South, with a comfortable 3-0 win against Falmouth Town at the Complete Infrastructure Stadium.
Goals from Tor Swann, Ben Steer and Luke Steer helped Town on the way to three points with the hosts deserving their win.
Exmouth would start the stronger of the two teams, as Ollie Knowles would pick out the run of Ben Steer, who was denied a shot through on goal by a recovering Falmouth defender.
Ace High would get a free header from the following corner, but Morgan Coxhead would read it well.
Thorne was next to test the away goalkeeper, arguably taking the ball slightly too far forward as he burst past the Falmouth defence, giving the onrushing ‘keeper a chance to make a decent stop.
Exmouth would be rewarded for their good start after seven minutes, as Swann held the ball away from two players before some quick play with Aarron Denny put the forward through on goal, and he duly dispatched the ball into the back of the net.
Jacob Bowker would have the Ambers first effort towards goal, but that would drift wide.
Luke Steer would do the same thing for Town moments later, and the game entered a lull period, where there was plenty of endeavour on both ends, but a lack of quality in the final third.
Louis Morison would be required to prevent Rubin Wilson from having a shot on goal, as his sliding challenge denied the striker a golden chance.
Exmouth would once again come out of the gates firing, and Thorne would head it down to Swann, and he squared to Ben Steer, who fired the ball home.
The visitors would have some joy going forward, but were unable to test Phillips in the Town net.
Luke Steer would put the game to rest on the hour mark, as Denny put the ball across goal and the midfielder was on hand to slot the ball home.
The rest of the game would quietly go by, with Exmouth in control of the game and both teams struggling to create chances.
Tom Bath would come close to adding a fourth but Coxhead was able to deflect his chipped effort wide.
