Exmouth Town face a different type of test on Friday, as they play a Stoke U21s side at the Complete Infrastructure Stadium (7:45pm KO).

Having played three men’s first teams, the Potters academy side will provide a new challenge that Town will not have faced in their preparations for the 25/26 season.

The Opposition

This will be one of two games for Stoke, as they take on Taunton Town on the Saturday in a mini tour of the South West.

A part of the Premier League 2 league system, the Potters youth side reguarly test themselves amongst the best academy teams in the country.

Lead by former Shrewsbury man Dave Hibbert, and assisted by Stoke favourite Liam Lawrence, they will be a team aiming to play a progressive style of football, which Town will need to counteract.

The academy has produced the likes of Nathan Lowe, Sol Sidibe, Emre Tezgel and Tommy Simkin in recent years, and now the next generation will be aiming to follow in their footsteps.
