Match Preview: Exmouth Town vs Buckland Athletic
Exmouth Town will look to progress into the first qualifying round of the FA Cup, as they take on Buckland Athletic in the preliminary round, at the Complete Infrastructure Stadium.
After a heart-breaking defeat at home to Portishead on Wednesday, Town will need to channel the positive aspects of their performance to beat a strong Buckland side.
The Opposition
Having been a part of the Western League for a number of years now, the Bucks have been aiming for promotion over the past few seasons, but have ultimately fell short in their last few attempts.
They are now managed by former Helston manager Matt Cusack, and have had a good start to the season, beating St Blazey in the extra-preliminary round, whilst winning against Wellington and drawing against Street in the league.
One of the best teams in the Western League, Buckland will be aiming to recreate their 2-1 win against Town in the FA Cup three years ago.
Pre-Match Chat
Speaking after the Portishead game, joint-manager Kevin Hill said: “They won their first game and drew against Street, so they will come here and fancy it as underdogs, as we are at home.
The FA Cup turns upsets up, but we’ve got to be at them and in their face.
