Exmouth Town will look to advance to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup, as they travel to Cockrams to take on Shaftesbury on Saturday.

The hosts have had a superb start to the season, and will present a tough test for a Town side aiming to build on a strong bank holiday weekend.

The Opposition

Shaftesbury currently sit in third place of the Southern League Division One South, winning three of their four games so far, including a 5-1 thrashing of Brixham, and a 4-0 win against Bideford.

Their FA Cup run began with a 1-1 against Baffins Milton Rovers, but the replay ended with a 5-0 win for the Rockies, before beating Thatcham Town 4-0 in the preliminary round.

James Milligan’s side possess the likes of Alefe Santos and Toby Holmes, with the former having professional experience and the latter recently dropping down from the Southern Premier League.

Pre-Match Chat

Speaking after the Bristol Manor Farm game, joint-manager Dave Pearse said “It’ll be a tough game.

They’ve recruited well, they’ve started the season well but it’s a cup game.

We’ll go there full of confidence, we are unbeaten in three, it doesn’t sound a lot but it’s out of five games especially considering the start we had.”
