Exmouth Town’s winning run came to a halt as they were beaten 5-0 by Falmouth Town at Bickland Park.

An early goal from Olly Evans saw Town go behind, and a second from the young winger after the break sent the home side on their way to three points.

Goals from Josh Barner, Harrison Jewell and Tom Annear would see things go from bad to worse for the visitors.

It was almost an electric start from Exmouth, as Ace High saw his header cleared off the line after just a minute.

The hosts saw their first opportunity of the game, as Evans cut inside and fired towards goal from outside the box, beating Wright from range.

Exmouth would look to get back into the game, with some nice passing play causing the home side some issues, but lacked the quality to finish the chances.

They would go close as a Joe Belsten cross would fall perfectly into the path of Ben Steer, who diverted the ball over from close range.

Rubin Wilson had the chance to extend his side’s lead before the break, but perhaps did not realise the space he had, with his header easy for Wright to deal with.

Luke Steer would have a decent chance to level proceedings, but it was not to be for the midfielder.

Just minutes after the second half started, a superb save from Morgan Coxhead denied Steer from scoring, before the 16-year-old Evans troubled Town once again, this time curling an effort into the bottom corner from the following attack.

Town heads would drop, and an onslaught from the Ambers would follow.

Jared Sims cross was perfect for a completely unmarked Barner, and he fired home from close range.

Jewell would be the next to score, as he was given plenty of space in the box to smash the ball home from close range.

A free-kick from Tom Annear would mark the end of the scoring, in a game that Town were completely in until they were not.

It was a wake-up call for Exmouth, who will look to restart that superb winning run with a trip to Hartpury on Saturday.

Line-Up: Wright, Belsten, Morcom (Cann, 72), Landricombe, Knowles (Shore, 66), Kennell, Shipton, Griffith (McCue, 66), L.Steer, B.Steer (Rowe, 79), High (Crawford, 59).
