Match Preview: Exmouth Town vs Swindon Supermarine
Exmouth Town will look to get back to winning ways in the Southern League Division One South, as they welcome Swindon Supermarine to the Complete Infrastructure Stadium this Saturday.
Town are currently enduring a three game losing streak, but can take plenty of heart from a spirited display last weekend with a depleted squad.
Supermarine are familiar opposition to Exmouth, having beaten them on opening day, and later on in the FA Trophy, but on penalties.
It is the last home game before Christmas, and the club will be celebrating by handing out a free mince pie for the first 250 supporters through the door.
The Opposition
After that electric start against Town on the opening day, it has not gone as planned for Bobby Wilkinson’s side, who now sit 14th in the league.
Supermarine themselves are on a three game losing streak, where they’ve unfortunately met promotion chasing Frome Town twice in that run, losing 3-1 on both occasions.
Exmouth will be looking for revenge, as whilst the opening league defeat was comprehensive, the FA Trophy defeat felt centred around a controversial penalty decision against Joe Belsten.
Pre-Match Chat
Speaking after the Bishops Cleeve game, joint-manager Dave Pearse said: “We’ll get a few players back, which is great.
We are working on getting some new faces in, which will give everyone a lift.
If we can take this performance into Saturday, we’ll be looking to get three points.”
