Exmouth Town battled to a 1-1 draw with Southern League Division One South champions Frome Town, at the Complete Infrastructure Stadium.

Mike Landricombe fired the hosts in front just before half-time, with the visitors responding just after the break, via Sam Meakes.

Neither side were able to get going in the early stages, with Kyle Phillips’ pass hitting Tom Bath and bouncing back to the goalkeeper being the closest either team got to a chance.

Albert Hopkins would have the first shot on target for Frome, as he cut inside before firing at Chris Wright.

Town would get a decent opportunity of there on, as a throw-in was flicked across by Landricombe, into the path of Denny, who turned and volleyed over the bar.

In a cagey first half, chances were few and far between, Callum Shipton having an attempt from range sail wide of the mark.

Wright would be called into action at close range, reacting brilliantly to deny the Robins from getting ahead.

Town would get a string of chances towards the end of the half, as a delicate Ben Steer touch would lead to a shot being blocked, then followed by a Ross Edwards header which flew just wide.

Moments later, Denny would be brought down outside the box and that saw the ball be scrambled in the box, before falling perfectly for Landricombe, and the captain found the top right corner.

It would be a set-piece on the other side of half time that would undo Town, as a free-kick evaded all blue shirts and went back across to Meakes, who tapped in from close range.

That would spark some momentum for the league champions, who caused more problems from a free-kick, as Hopkins flashed across goal without a touch to divert it in.

Hopkins would then force Wright into another good save, as he aimed towards goal inside the box.

The game would slowly fizzle out, and it would end all-square in what was a positive performance for Town, who take on Winchester City next Saturday in their final home game of the season.
