A strong second half saw Exmouth Town beaten 5-2 against National League South side Truro City, in what was a competitive affair between the two sides.

Superb strikes from both Louis Morison and Callum Shipton helped Town go ahead and level the game respectively, but goals from Tyler Harvey, Will Dean, Harvey Greenslade, Ben Starkie and Tom Tweedy helped the Tinners to victory.

Truro dominated possession in the early proceedings, but Town held firm in a solid back five to prevent any real chances from being created.

It was a spectacular goal to open the scoring, as Morison picked up the ball from 35 yards out, and looped it past the outstretched Aidan Stone.

Exmouth would continue to counter-attack well, with a pass putting Aarron Denny in on goal, but the Truro goalkeeper was on hand to deny him.

Matt Wonnacott would then be forced into action, making a strong save to push a long range-effort around the post.

The visitors would have another chance through a trialist, which then soon saw a Town counter-attack which caught the visitors off-guard, as Tom Bath squared to Denny, but his touch was pounced on by Stone.

Truro would level the game up before half-time, as a cross came into the far post, and Harvey headed home.

The visitors would carry that momentum into the second half, as a well-worked move saw the ball land at the feet of Dean, and his low effort found the bottom left corner.

Exmouth would continue to defend well, and would get a leveller just before the 70th minute, as Shipton picked the ball up outside the box, and fired into the bottom corner.

Unfortunately for Town, the game was only level for three minutes, as a miscommunication in midfield saw the Tinners regain the ball, which was played through to Greenslade, and he made no mistake.

The professional side showed their superior fitness, as they took over the game late on, with Starkie firing through the legs of Wonnacott to make it four.

It was a lovely passing move from Truro for their fifth goal, as a string of quick touches saw the ball fall nicely to Tweedy, who tucked the ball away in the bottom corner.

Town would have one final opportunity to reduce the deficit, as an inventive lob from Ace High forced Stone into a brilliant save.

It was another good workout for Town, who will look for their first non-competitive win of the season away at Cullompton Rangers this Saturday.
