Exmouth Town kick off their 26/27 Southern League Division One South season with a trip to The Sports Ground, to take on Bideford AFC this Tuesday (7:45pm KO).

A familiar opposition, Town will be looking for a better result then their recent pre-season friendly, where The Robins scored two late goals to win 2-1.

Following an excellent second-half against Bovey Tracey in the FA Cup, Exmouth can take some confidence heading into this midweek fixture.

The Opposition

Bideford kicked off their season with a 1-0 loss in the FA Cup to fellow Southern League Division One South side Falmouth Town, with in what was described as a ‘controversial’ game.

Sean Joyce will be hoping to channel some of that potential frustration into a strong performance on Tuesday, against a team and manager that he knows all too well.

A similar team to Exmouth, Bideford will once again be aiming to avoid any relegation trouble this season, after managing to get away from trouble with a superb run at the end of their campaign.

Pre-Match Chat

Speaking after the Bovey Tracey game, manager Kevin Hill said: “It will be a similar game.

There won’t be much in it, we are both similar sides, we know each other well, played the other week, and we play each other twice a year.

They used to be our bogey team, they work really hard and play to their strengths, but you never know what Bideford side is going to turn up.”
