A late Ross Edwards equaliser means that Exmouth Town will face Thame United in an FA Cup replay, following a 3-3 draw at the ASM Stadium.

Town went a goal behind, but Tom Bath and Ben Steer put them ahead in the second half, before a quick two-goal salvo saw Exmouth out heading into stoppage time.

With just a minute to go, an Owen Johnson corner was headed home by Edwards, to spark jubilation amongst the away fans.

It was the hosts who started the game better, as Greg Hackett was squared the ball in the box, and a Matt Wonnacott save slowed it down, before Edwards was in the right place to clear off the line.

Roger James caused Town some trouble on the right hand side, cutting in and forcing a save from Wonnacott.

Thame would be the team to open the scoring, as Exmouth were slow to press Jack Tutton, and he punished them by curling a ball into the top right corner.

The hosts were dominated proceedings at the ASM Stadium, with a tame Louis Morison free-kick the only away chance in the first 30 minutes.

Wonnacott was forced into action once again, as Hackett looked to have the beating of him and Mike Landricombe, but a brilliant save from the former was enough to deny him.

Town would have a decent chance from a free-kick, as Josh Cann’s effort deflected towards Edwards, but his backheel was weak and easy for the goalkeeper.

Controversy would come just before the break, as Ben Steer was fouled outside the box by the goalkeeper, with the referee opting to give a yellow card for a denial of clear goal scoring opportunity.

Exmouth should have gone two behind just after the break, as they were caught on the break and Wonnacott was rounded, but the shot struck the post and bounced away.

Town would punish them for the mistake, as Steer was brought down in the box and the referee had no choice but to point to the spot.

Bath would step up and calmly dispatch the penalty in the bottom left corner.

Joe Belsten was on hand to stop Aydin Ulas from having a clear shot on goal with an excellent recovery challenge.

Having won the penalty, Steer was able to get the chance to shoot and he would fire Town ahead, as he got in behind the Thame defence before finishing well past James Callan.

It would be a good response from the hosts, who were able to cut through the middle of the Town defence, and Harry Alexander would finish past Wonnacott.

Thame would find a third goal within two minutes of their equaliser, as a long ball caught Exmouth asleep, and Hackett would find the back of the net.

The visitors would look for an instant response, as an Edwards header was cleared off the line and the following goalmouth scramble was eventually cleared.

Exmouth would have a glorious chance as Aarron Denny brought the ball down and saw his shot saved, and the rebound from Alex Cairo was brilliantly stopped on the line.

It looked like Town would leave empty-handed, until the 94th minute, when Johnson’s corner teed up Edwards, and his header struck the post and bounced in.

The last minute equaliser means that Town will welcome Thame to the Search4Local Stadium this Wednesday, with the potential third qualifying round opponents to be revealed on Monday.
